The Hanwang Jian is a Chinese straight sword pairing a hand-forged patterned steel blade with finely carved brass fittings. A reddish-brown Dipteryx odorata wood scabbard and a solid-wood handle wrapped in black cord complete its distinctive appearance.
Hand-forged patterned steel blade
The blade is hand forged from patterned steel (百炼花纹钢) and finely ground to reveal its flowing surface pattern. It is supplied unsharpened. The blade is rigid. Do not attempt to bend it.
Carved brass and a wooden scabbard
The brass fittings are finely carved, carefully ground and polished, with raised decoration visible on the guard, pommel and scabbard fittings. The scabbard is made from Dipteryx odorata wood (香二翅豆). The solid-wood handle has a black cord wrap.
